Irie is brought to you by celebrated and award-winning chef Maxcel Hardy. Chef Max began his culinary experience in the Culinary Arts Program at Wharton High School in Tampa, Florida and continued his education and training at Johnson & Wales University in Miami. It was in Miami that he started a catering company and quickly won the attention – and business – of high profile clients including various hip hop and R&B artists, professional athletes and the Prince of Dubai. From 2009 to 2014, Chef Max was the full-time personal chef for New York Knick Amar’e Stoudemire which lead to his co-authoring a cookbook with the basketball star.
Chef Max’s talent is equally matched by his heart. He is a philanthropist and founder of the One Chef Can 86 Hunger Foundation, a non-profit that works to raise awareness of and fight the hunger epidemic in America. One Chef Can 86 Hunger raises funds to support educational programs in schools and community centers that focus on giving students practical and fundamental knowledge of the wonderful world of culinary arts.
Chef Max moved back to the Detroit area in 2015 and has since launched several successful restaurants including Coop Caribbean Fusion and Jed’s Detroit.
